WP 5 | Institutional and socio-economic framework conditions for the introduction of AMF plant systems

Work Package 5 Research objectives:
- Analysis of the legal framework for ASM and commercial gold mining in Ghana and Burkina Faso, with special emphasis on recultivation;
- Conducting a stakeholder analysis to identify potential actors and their relationships with each other;
- Evaluation of the socio-economic conditions of the affected village communities in selected case studies, with special consideration of the economic incentives that could result from the agricultural use of recultivated land;
- Analysis of land rights in the areas affected by ASM;
- Implement a participatory process to develop options for institutional and financial arrangements under which AMF plant systems could be used in practice;
- Analysis of the economic efficiency of the use of AMF plant systems in cooperation with INOQ GmbH;
- Clarify the roles that different actors could play and assess their interests and options for action.
